I have been wanting to join Art Snacks for so long, but couldn’t justify treating myself until recently. This month I finally took the plunge and my first box arrived yesterday! I was so excited to try everything out, especially the black marker (arguably my favourite type of art supply):
Yesterday I also went on a little field trip to the Frederick R. Weisman Museum for a tour of the Altered Reality photography exhibition. I’m glad I got to see it before it ended, it was a fun hour and the museum director was really engaging. All of the pieces were interesting and thought-provoking, but my favourites had to be the “High Fashion Crime Scenes” photography by Melanie Pullen. I loved Blue from the Water Series and Dorothy from the Barrel Series (you can view them on her website, but many of the pieces are NSFW).
Since I was so struck by her photography, I decided to draw Dorothy in my art journal using the Art Snacks supplies for my first attempt at the Art Snacks Challenge! Here is how it turned out:
I love all of the supplies and the black marker did not disappoint! I will be using them all a lot in the future, and I’m super excited for the next box!
