Journal: Handmade using scrap cardboard, paper, and post-its Medium(s): Acrylic paint, ink, gouache, some ephemera Status: Unfinished Notes: I started making small art pieces on post-its to cheer my friends up as the world went into lockdown, some of them ended up in this little book along with other pieces I made during the first few months working from home. I could fill up the rest of the book, but it might ruin a moment in time.
×May 2020: An illustration of myself with a purple side cut, a Taurus symbol on my cheek, and 33 to the left of me.
×May 2020: An illustration of former Los Angeles Dodger baseball player Brian Wilson with a silly conversation I had with my husband about Tommy John Surgery – I was close enough, right?!
×May 2020: An illustration of a goth woman looking annoyed with the words, "our ISP lives up to its name" next to her.
×March/February 2020: An illustration of Eric Byrnes' bulldog, Altuve, looking adorable dressed as ET and a random dog drawing from Sktchy.
×March 2020: An illustration of AEW wrestler Evil Uno with the words Evil Uno cares about your well being and an illustration of a hamster watching Hamtaro (drawn to cheer a friend up).
×May 2020: An illustrated portrait of an ice queen (reference from Sktchy) with lyrics by The Atomic Bitchwax that were stuck in my head during lockdown.
×June 2020: An illustration of myself with a freshly shaved side-cut with the words I feel like I’m overreacting next to me.
×June 2020: An illustration of a woman wearing face paint in red and blue lighting (reference from the Sktchy app) next to a quote by Audre Lorde. I was reading Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde and the quote leapt out at me. It's from 1976 but it still seems so apt, sadly.
×August 2020: An illustration of a woman in distress and an illustration of a female body with the word "legacy?" written on her stomach.
×September 2020: An illustration about voting and an joke doodle about not knowing the difference between a cucumber and a zuccini.
×August 2020: An illustration of a mosquito with the words bloody bastards! above it and an illustration of my little character in the videogame Fall Guys with scribbles behind it that say this is my life now.
×September 2020: An illustration of the Manic Panic logo and of myself with a green side cut (experimenting with my hair during lockdown) and my tongue out.
×September 2020: Two quick sketch portraits in my art journal as an example of the cheap/quick commissions I was offering during lockdown.
